LearnBasicTech had the honor of training and serving individuals that signed up for our event, starting May 22, 2024 in Baldwin Hills, Los Angeles. During the event, participants engaged in a comprehensive technology training session. The training was designed to enhance the attendees' computer skills, regardless of their current level of knowledge.

Many participants shared their motivation for attending, expressing their eagerness to expand their understanding of technology despite already possessing a good working knowledge of computers. Many highlighted the importance of staying updated with the latest computer training to effectively conduct workshops, presentations, and online teaching.

The session covered various practical tasks, including setting up passwords, configuring a Gmail account, and asking questions about anything tech related. Participants found these activities particularly enlightening and recommend anyone who is not confident behind a computer should still give it a try and challenge themselves to something that can turn out simpler than what they thought it to be.

Moreover, the training addressed more personalized needs, such as synchronizing multiple email addresses and setting up Zoom for meetings and classes. Although managing different email accounts initially seemed confusing, participants appreciated the support in organizing her work and personal emails, making her day more productive. Participants received hands on support from the LearnBasicTech instructors and trainers.

Reflecting on the training, many felt a sense of accomplishment and encouragement. We had an attendee emphasize the importance of such classes for older individuals, stressing that basic computer knowledge is crucial in today’s world to avoid feeling left behind and to maintain independence. She reassured others that, despite the challenges, mastering technology is possible.

Overall, participants expressed gratitude towards the instructors, acknowledging the ease and enjoyment of the learning process. Feeling motivated to continue improving their skills and looked forward to future sessions. This training not only boosted her confidence but also demonstrated the value of continuous learning and the potential for technology to enhance personal and professional capabilities.

Meet Kenya

Kenya had first heard about our digital skills training through our Instagram post on @DeleteTheDivide. The words “Free Tech Course” stood out to her, and she decided to take a chance on herself and LearnBasicTech. Kenya expressed her eagerness to learn and was taken back on the loads of information she learned from our trainings. “I’m going home with knowledge I did not come here with… I didn't even know there were so many places around the world that didn't have Internet access. So we're actually, you know, blessed to even have stuff like this” Kenya stated.
